Children Book Emma’s Birthday: Learning to Be Gracious

Clarence Thomas once said that “good manners will open doors that the best education cannot”. These words speak volumes, as in today’s diverse and ever-changing society we as individuals are evaluated not only based on what we know, but on how we regard the feelings of others.

As parents we tend to more focus on our child’s academic /physical skill set, and in turn neglect very important emotionally based skills. These skills will not only improve your child’s ability to foster long lasting relationships with their peers, but will enable them to see the world from an angle which inevitably forges your child into a moral upstanding adult.

Lessons for life are usually taught using the most simple of occurrences within the human experience, and this book focuses on how your child should react when receiving a gift they do not appreciate.

“Emma’s Birthday – Learning to Be Gracious” is entertaining, easy to read and instills a narrative which promotes the correct way for a child (or adult) to respond to the situation above. We can all learn a lot from Emma, and I look forward to sharing her story with you.

Grandpa Went to Heaven – Children’s Book

Grandpa Went to Heaven

Grandpa Went to Heaven

This children’s book is written from a Christian perspective for very young children who have lost a loved one. What do you tell a young child who has lost a loved one and is grieving?

Children are so concrete in their thinking, and death can be a very difficult subject to talk about in generic terms, yet especially so in the middle of emotional pain and loss. Yet, they seek answers.

This was written as a tool to assist parents and loved ones to help children process death, grief and bereavement. It has beautiful images and acknowledges the sadness of grief, yet also offers hope and comfort as well.

There is a foreword section to parents in the e-book with suggestions to help their children through this very painful time, and tips to customize the book to their specific circumstances, including other loved ones besides a grandpa.

This is available in paperback or ebook formats as well as some foreign languages.  If you live in the U.S. please use the links below.  If outside of the U.S. please go to your country’s amazon site and do a search for this title and author.  Thank you.

The World is My Drum

For children, the whole world is an irresistible playground just begging for some fun. In the heartwarming children’s book, The World is My Drum, that fun is the sound of little Hudson’s crashing drums! You name it and Hudson can make it into drums and make them sound incredible!

Beautifully illustrated with watercolor, it inspires children to be creative, with ordinary objects around them.

Just wait till you see what he does with his homemade drums! It might be the concert of the century or it might end up a massive tangle of drums and pounding headaches! Either way it’s going to be fun!

My First Reading Book – A Child’s Book

My First Reading Book - Children Ebook

My First Reading Book  is a tool to help teach beginner readers how to read. It is a good next step for children who have just mastered the alphabet and sounds of each letter. Intentionally, there are no pictures in this book, instead the focus is upon the words themselves, to keep distractions to a minimum.

It starts with some 3 letter words, then moves on to 4 and then 5 letter words, then finishes by using most of the words in short, complete sentences. It’s perfect for helping them to ‘sound out’ words and learn by memorization a few very common simple words that used frequently in the English language.

Watch how proud children will be at mastering a new skill, reading!

A Book of Dog Breeds For Children: They’re All Dogs

A Book of Dog Breeds for Children

A Book of Dog Breeds For Children: They’re All Dogs

This is an e-book for young children introducing them to the idea of different dog breeds. I found when teaching very young children about dogs; they seemed to be confused when taught (for example) that a poodle was a dog, then seeing a Chihuahua that it was a dog as well.

This is an educational, yet fun book for parents to read to young children, or for early readers. It can also be a way to teach about dogs for children that might be afraid of them, in a safe, nurturing way.

The book contains photographs of 21 different dog breeds, some common, some unusual. It also contains some exercises for parents and children to do together that can foster fun, giggles, and bonding time.

This is available in paperback books and ebooks and various foreign languages, which I will post the link to below (on amazon U.S. site)

A Childs Book of Dog Body Language with Pictures: Help Keep Children Safe

A Child’s Book of Dog Body Language with Pictures: Help Keep Children Safe

A Child’s Book of Dog Body Language with Pictures is a book intended to be read by an adult to a child. The adult can determine which portions or the entire book, is age appropriate. It is an educational book to help prevent possible dog bites, as well as helping children know how to treat a dog, in order to have good relationships with them.

Too often as parents, we simply don’t think about teaching safety issues concerning dogs, until there’s a situation happening. Usually that is not the time for teaching, but for action. Prevention can go a long way.

This book is one an adult can use for both a child who is perhaps fearful of dogs, and a child who is bold with dogs, but should learn more respect. There is a note to parents at the beginning of the book, asking especially that the book be read completely before reading to a child. Parents know the stages of their kids as well as the child’s temperament and history they’ve had with dogs. All these factors come into play when teaching about safety and dogs.

I’ve tried hard to try to make this as least frightening as possible, and to encourage healthy dog/child relationships. The book closes with some silly photos to end on a lighter note.

Available in paperback, ebook and some foreign language ebooks.  For those in the U.S, links are below.  If you live outside the U.S. please go to your country’s amazon site and do a search for this title and author.  Thank you.

Legend of Loch Ness Monster for Kids: A Mystery in the United Kingdom Book

Legend of Loch Ness Monster for Kids A Mystery in the United Kingdom

Legend of Loch Ness Monster for Kids: A Mystery in the United Kingdom

This is a book about the myths, fables, legends and scientific studies concerning the Loch Ness Monster, known as “Nessie” for children. It is for ages 7-12 years old, depending on their reading level and interests.

It is a short chapter book with photos and illustrations. It highlights some of the earliest sightings, as well as more recent sightings. The myths, fables and legends encourage their imagination and invite them to add their own theories. This provides opportunity to use critical thinking skills in a fascinating topic. These are presented as myths, and not proven fact.

Available in paperback book, ebook and audio book formats.  Also available in some foreign language ebooks as well.  Links are below if you live in the U.S.   If you live outside the U.S., please go to your country’s amazon site and do a search for this title and author.  Thank you!

A Pioneer Girl Learns to Cook: Apple Pie & Biscuits Book

A Pioneer Girl Learns To Cook: Apple Pie & Biscuits

A Pioneer Girl Learns to Cook: Apple Pie & Biscuits

This is an educational book about the life of a pioneer girl, the process she had in learning to cook and other aspects of pioneer life. It’s written mainly for girls between the ages of 8 – 13, depending on the reading levels and interests of the individual. There are pictures in this short chapter book of pioneer life to help visualize the times.

It’s a realistic look at life, tools, and equipment used in pioneer days, obtaining food ingredients, and how they kept food safe with no refrigeration. My hope as an author was to help girls to connect with, and get a feel for life in early American history in an engaging way. Differences are highlighted between pioneer life and modern life today.

The book ends with a project for girls to try to duplicate, with an adults’ assistance, the process of making an apple pie and biscuits, including a recipe for both.

This is available in both paperback books, ebooks and audio books.  Please see the links below if you live in the U.S.

Shapes & Colors For Children: Including Hexagon Pentagon Octagon

This is an educational book for babies, toddlers and very young children. It features 14 different shapes, and 14 different colors. The shapes include not only the basics, but hexagon, pentagon, octagon and a few more advanced ones. There are also some tips to parents at the end for more ideas to reinforce the learning of shapes and colors to children.I found as a mother, I tended to just teach the basic shapes and colors. I’m not sure why I stopped there, but I assumed that’s what young children learned. When I became a full time nanny, the little boy I cared for loved shapes. He enjoyed every minute of our learning time, so I kept going in the teaching of shapes because he mastered the basic ones quickly.By 15 months old, he knew ALL the shapes in this book in various mediums. He couldn’t say them mind you, but he could accurately, find them, every time. I believe oval was one of his very first words. I learned a lot from him and how much young children can learn, if we’ll teach it. Don’t be nervous about teaching very young children the more advanced shapes, just make it fun. Make the learning process itself, enjoyable.

The book is available in paperback and ebook versions in English, Spanish, French, Japanese, Portuguese & Italian.  The links are below (for amazon U.S)  If you live outside the U.S., please go to your nation’s amazon site and type in the title and author in search to get it.  Thank you.
